Live Life, Love Dance

"You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls and maybe hang in museums, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive. It is not for unsteady souls."
- Merce Cunningham

ripped from Liza

Wheeeeeeeeeee!

So hot yo! So skinny! Do you see the zippers on the back of the jeans? So punk yo!
I decided to pay for them out of my own pocket even though TehS offered to pay half as my birthday present. But I couldnt bear to let him spend a huge amount of money on me. Especially not on a piece of clothing. But still it was sangat sweet.

After two late nights of rehearsals in the studio and having to cab back at 1am in the morning, we're all pretty broke and insane.
Gimme More of Britney

If you havent already heard or watched, Britney's made a "comeback" at the recent Video Music Awards (VMA) 2007. Hahahaha.. The (previous?) Princess of Pop whom we all infamously know for 1) breaking up with JT 2) marrying and THEN dumping loseur K-Fed, did some kinda "DANCE" in a <strike>skanky</strike> skimpy bra top and boy-shorts that showed off her non-existent body.

Twas a sad performance of sorts. But I still think the song rocks. AND I STILL LIKE HER! Given that she hasnt danced in 2 years, it's still obvious she's still got what it takes to be a great dancer. Just needs a lil bit more training. Liza, on the other hand said, that "plus y'know.. she's crazy". THAT TOTALLY CRACKED ME UP!

Hahaha. What else got me laughing my ass off was when Liza said she had a constipated look on her face. Yo, I think she's stoned cause too much milk got sucked outta her! Bwahahahaha.

So anyway, if you havent already watched the VMA performance. Watch it and THEN watch the second one. It's an uncensored version. Dont hold me liable if you get nightmares. Hahahaha! Dont worry. It's FUNNY!

<lj-embed id="13" />
Britney's VMA 2007 Performance

<lj-embed id="14" />

Oh and did I forget to mention that we're gonna dance to the song? HAHAHAHA! Dammit. Im just not Britney enough, not dirty enough. Maybe I will be.

A Lil Bit of This, A Lil Bit of That

So many happenings, like the recent Inter Religious, Inter Racial (IRIR) dinner which the top 5 MSI winners attended, yummy food in the studio - Jelly Hearts and Donut Factory donuts (finally!). I wanted to write about them and post a plethora of pictures, but guess what, it makes things a lot easier now because my computer wiped out all my pictures on my PHONE! BAH! NO MORE PICTURES!

Thank goodness for other cameras! But my narcissistic pictures on my phone are all gone. Boohoo! The makeup artist did a good job with the smoky eyes and it was perfection! Totally my kinda makeup. Of course, I couldnt help but cam-whore with my phone since I looked so good *ahem*. But unfortunately due to technical glitches, I DONT GET TO SHARE THE NARCISSISTIC PICTURES WITH EVERYONE! Haha blessing in disguise or a real pity?

IRIR dinner was rather enjoyable. Held in the Expo over two days, organised by the Thye Hua Kwan Moral Home for the Intellectually Disabled, the MSI Top 5 winners attended the first night and were treated to a sumptuous vegetarian sit down dinner. The event was to promote and bring together people of all races and religion together to witness the beauty of diversity, and promote understanding of the various races and religions. The hall held 5000 people and was graced by His Honour President SR Nathan and his wife. Throughout the night, performances like dances, singing and reading of the religious harmony pledge (or something like that) kept us entertained.

The 4 of us (excluding the Queen of course) thought that we would escape public scrutiny during the event and be able to have a nice relaxed dinner that night. Haha, but given that we were all in heels and our sashes, it was hard not to attract attention. Furthermore, we were moved to the VVIP table after/during the second dish. Well, even then, that didnt stop us from having fun.

Before dinner, at the makeup school. Hair and make up is ALL done for us.
No worries about DIY-ing. After hair and makeup. With one of the "mama-sans" Jenny.

Finally Christabel is done with hair and makeup. Love the red cheong-samy gown.
She had to be clad in a sponsored attire cause her royal duties included that of escorting the President
to the stage and later presenting a token of appreciation to him.

On the way to Expo. Our Queen drives! Haha. Not Dancing Queen, Driving Queen.

The four of us in the backseat.
Ok no lah. But the 4 of us who let our Queen take us where she wanted to, or rather, where she had to go. Haha!

Janine, Hui Ting and me in the backseat.

Taking some time off from her royal duties to cam-whore a bit with us. Haha.

Making funny faces. And these were at the VVIP table mind you! Hahaha. Just next to President SR Nathan.
There were various delegates and important people at our table too. I figured we were the youngest ones there.

I still have a truckload of pictures. Too many pictures! Too little time! Maybe in the next post. And anyway, with regards to my SL post, it was MILD man. Have you seen Mr Brown's posts (HERE and HERE) on it? HILARIOUS! Totally wicked! Unlike Mr Brown, I dont have that kind stature in the blogosphere to make such comments AND still have support on my side. Creating some great divide in the population wide enough for Moses to walk through it and having to deal with backlash, is not pretty.
Anyway, the comment on the tagboard was LAME too cause in the first place, I NEVER said or insinuated that I was pretty. Sure granted there ARE a few girls on the webby that I thought pretty, but you could count them off with ONE hand. How's that for a pool of talent that supposed to help you make money?

Whatever man. I dont have the time to waste on trivialities.

Bidding starts soon! And NUS has decided to be kind to me. I am grateful!
Dance Updates

Okay. I havent been updating about dance and/or DAP ever since. Yes, I know. It’s become more or less a routine and sometimes it feels as though we’ve become so jaded. There’s nothing ELSE to write about save for the regular classes that we attend every week. There are the new jumps we learn try to battle and grasp within a few short minutes each weekday tech class, but that’s just part and parcel of the entire syllabus. We’ve got axle jumps, double attitude jumps, my favourite grande jetes, jumps in second and a whole host of other jumps I cant spell because they’re in French. And you can only go forward yes? Apparently not.

I crashed in tech class yesterday. And I mean it literally. I crashed into the floor. Not once, not twice, but countless times. Especially on my left. Because my muscles on the entire right side of my body are screwed. So screwed and whacked out of sync, I cant control them no more. They’re all bunched up and tight and I CANT PULL UP! BAH! What a great way to start the intensive two months of rehearsals. I wanted to die on the spot right then.

The introduction of the upcoming grad show has got us in a state of flurry, trying to organise and get the show going and obviously, trying to get better that VERY bit more, so we wont look like a bunch of loseurs on stage. The planning stage is no easy feat since there’s only 10 of us now. From a batch of 15, we’ve lost people due mostly to commitments, and now we’re at 10. 10 have to plan the budget. 10 have to conceptualise the entire story. 10 have do the posters and promotional activities. 10 have to do costumes. 10 have to schedule rehearsals. And of course, most importantly, 10 have to dance. Time is limited and scheduling is tight. But rehearsals have started (finally!) and that’s ONE load off our minds.

16 items, 10 dancers. Some have called us crazy. Some have said we’re doing the impossible. Others have given up on us. But we call it passion. We’ll pull through twisted ankles, aching muscles, disjointed hips, injured toes, bear the cold of the studio and put up with late nights, just so the show will go on. 9 minutes of sit ups each week, 4 hours of dance a day, 10 dancers, 1 show. It’s gonna be one hell of a ride for the next few months.

HELLO JUNK FOOD. HELLO CUP NOODLES. HELLO HONG KONG CAFE. HAHAHA!

Oh did I mention school’s starting soon too? CORS is a bitch.

HELLO HONOURS STUDENT.

Random-ness

I have perfect legs. So I’ve been told. HAHA!

And I thank running and dance for it. I like the way my body is right now and I’m gonna KEEP it that way. Ran again for the first time in ages on Saturday. Wait, I must specify, I ran again OUTSIDE in the open for the first time in ages. All those times in the studio barefooted, doing running variations like knees to your chest, mini jetes and side gallops dont count! Twas a humid Saturday as it rained just hours before. I put on my running shoes (kindly sponsored my Sportiv during the pageant) that the EACH finalist got to bring home after the finals and started to go where my feet would take me.

Collected my prizes for MSI today. A bunch of vouchers which I have to exchange for my real prizes! Whooooo! $500 worth of Hilly products (leather no less). $175 worth of Arena products (hello Bikinis! hello beach!). Orlane cosmetics, fragrances and skincare worth $500 (hello nice smelling beautiful skin!). 6 cans of Tiger Beer and 8 mugs (hello raving parties!) and an entire bag full of Bio-essence skin care products - eye bag vanishing serum, radiant youth essence, skin white revitalising exfoliator, face lifting cream, deep nourishing toner and deep cleanser (hello beautiful skin AGAIN!). WAH! I feel so pampered all of a sudden.

Now Im going to go sleep.

OH. I GOT MYSELF A NEW TOY TOOOOOO! Hoooooo! A BLOODY 10MP DSLR! Who wants to be my models?!

It's been a quiet all long on my blog cause we were busy preparing for the finals for Miss Singapore International. Hectic just doesnt describe it.

The finals were today and I got crowned...

2nd Runner Up and Miss Body Beautiful!

Hahahaha! Blog more when Im rested and recharged.

BIG thanks to the lovelies (Liza, Jen, Qiao Wei) who came down to support me.
Also to those who remembered and wished me luck all the way.
PLUS, those who wanted to come and support me but couldnt cause the tickets were waaaaaaaaay out of budget.

Of course, how can I forget my WONDERFUL parents who were rooting for me every step of the way. Their unfailing love was my pillar of strength. And the boyfriend who helped me with the QnA and also in more ways than one.

Much much love. I love y'all.

Skinny Jeans

My search for a pair of skinny jeans MIGHT have come to an end! FINALLY.

Have been wanting a pair for yonks and there was one I REALLY liked from Guess. As in, really-liked-it-till-i-bothered-to-go-try-it-on-and-even-then-it-fit-just-nice-and-i-really-wanted-to-buy-it THAT kinda like. BUT, it wasnt on SALE. BAH! The entire Guess boutique was having a Further Reduced Sale but that didnt include that pair of funky skinny jeans. It's cost an atomic bomb - 270 bucks.
*faint*

Even then, Im STILL thinking about that pair of jeans. The price however, is unjustifiable. Even if the boyf did offer to pay half the amount. For that price and maybe a few bucks more, I could land myself a coveted pair of Miss Sixty jeans. Liza recommended the on-going MNG sale and I went to scour through the piles and piles of clothing. Jeans were going for about 45 bucks or so but none really caught my eye. And I thought they werent SKINNY enough. Plus, they didnt compare to the Guess one which has zippers on the back pockets and leather straps attached to the zips. Cool or what. But 270 is outrageous. I'd have to chop off an arm and a leg just to BUY that jeans. And once I do, I wont look good in the jeans cause I'd only have one leg left.

But my woes have all been solved now. Haha. Well, at least I think they have.

Ordered a pair of jeans online from VS and they look pretty good.

Picture from victoriassecret.com

They look really good on the model, so I hope the actual thing's the same. Well, VS hasnt done anything to disappoint me so far, so I hope this isnt the one time they let me down. Havent ordered bottoms online before and I had trouble deciding on the size. Im crossing my fingers and hoping they'd fit when they arrive. Got them in a light shade of dusty grey called Authentic Grey.

I've been a really good girl and havent bought anything online save for this pair of jeans and some handphone dingle-dangles that I've been lusting over for some time now. Haha! They're just tooooo adorable to pass up!

Pictures from strapya-world.com

Qiao Wei and I were crazy enough to suggest buying one whole carton of 12 to see what models we can get. Haha! It's random sort of thing, buy a box and get some cute miniature phone inside. I really want the mini Razr! Pink pink pink! They open and flip/slide just like the real phone! Trust the Japanese to come up with such cutesy-wootsey stuff.

I ♥ Tau Huay

So much so that I named my new hamster, Tau Huay! HAHAHA!

Sleeping like a pig.

HELLO!

His new condo that cost 3.3 million.

Ok lah. The real reason I called him Tau Huay is because

1) Jin gave him to me.

2) The hammo is white is colour. He's a winter white breed to be exact.

Hahaha.. Jin is relevant in this equation because the DAPees used to have this thing where we'd eat tau huay all the time after class just to gain mass/chest/boobs. Haha.. It was according to WM's theory and we were trying to prove it right. Results you ask? Results have been slight, but seems to work. But obviously, too much protein is bad for your kidneys.

If you'd read the papers today, there was a picture of MSI (ok, ME and another girl) at the Moral Home for the Intellectually Disabled. But if you dont look carefully you wont recognise it's me. HAHA!

The accompanying article.

I still havent seen the report on CNA.
=\

Anyway, random photo of the day. I was having lunch with mum and we were pouring through a plate of fruits - dragonfruit, pineapple, papaya and jelly. I picked up one of the few remaining pineapples, and got this.

Wahahahaha!
Japan Craze

I've been getting tonnes of Japanese foodstuff recently. First, twas Qiao Wei who went to Tokyo. She came back with a box of Grape Mochi and Japanese cup noodles for me. Thanks Qiao Wei! Needless to say, the food was awesome! Whoooooo! The mochi is SUPER DUPER soft and brings the words "melt in your mouth" to a whole new level. It's springy but not chewy, nor is it sticky. It's absolutely FAAAAAAAAAAAB!

Mochi from Japan. With love from Qiao Wei

There wasnt anything in the center though. It wasnt filled with grape syrup or with jelly or anything like that and I was a tad disappointed. It definitely was a change of taste from the usual mochi we get in Singapore with them ice-cream filled center ones. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the mochi tremendously.

The cup noodles she brought back for me, although had the label Myojo, tasted nothing like the Myojo we get in stores here. The seasoning tasted different as did the noodles themselves. Gosh! It was a totally out of body experience eating it. Wahahahaha!

Then Qiao Wei got some of her friends who just recently came back from Japan to get her Green Tea Kit Kat while they were there. I ka-poh-ed 2 bars and LOVED every single moment of the Kit Kat break. Haha! The maccha taste was just right; it wasnt too sweet, neither was it too bitter. If they'd overloaded the chocolate with maccha powder, there would be a bitter aftertaste. But there was none! I would have loved the green tea taste to be a teeeeeeny weeeeeny bit stronger though. But overall, I still enjoyed the fragrant chocolate bar.

Green Tea Kit Kat. YUM!

Then Nicole the little monster came back from Japan today and her mum bought back this HUGE package which consists of various types of Japanese goodies.

Mochi again! With Japanese biscuits filled with Red Bean paste.
Sponge cakes. Cream puff shells again with red bean paste.
A million goodies. All wrapped in pretty paper.

I'm a Japan convert! My personal mission now is to score myself a trip to Japan.
I <strike>MUST</strike> WILL go to Japan!

I promise to blog soon. A series of unfortunate events but I'll get to that when the throbbing stops.

One picture from Evoke, Studio Wu's production in the meantime.

We love you Celine!

Walking Accident

I am a walking accident. After just two classes last night in the studio, I have..
(graphic images ahead)

1) one cracked toenail on the last toe of the left foot sustained during attempts to complete a double pirouette

Bandaged up to protect your weak hearts. Too graphic.

2) one open blister on the side of my left foot

3) a swelled blueblack on my right elbow cause I walked into the corner of the wall

4) and various bruises on BOTH knees.

I think I should be a collector of injuries, I'd have the most extensive and unique collection of injuries and bruises around. Haha!

Anyway, it's amazing how dangerous any place can be. And to think Im one of the bigger "kids" in the studio! Haha.. Look at these little precious ones that come around everyday. Fen and Sing's kids. CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTEEEEEEE!

I-Yin, Shayne and Kai Yang.
Absolutely picturesque. They got into this pose by themselves! Hahaha! And everyone started scrambling for their cameras to capture this shot.

Guess who's back by the way. THB bought a replacement bear for me. One that looks exactly the same and sounds exactly the same. Haha. And the 3 little ones were having a field day pressing it, listening to it squeak "I love you" and watching it's cheeks flush red. They were chasing each other around the studio trying to get their hands on the bear and it was absolutely adorable to watch.

The King Kreme

If you think queuing three hours for donuts is madness, you'll never guess what I did.

I slept with a smile on my face over the weekend cause I had...

KRISPY KREMES man!

Assorted mix top row (L-R): Cinnamon Apple Filled. New York Cheesecake
2nd Row (L-R): Chocolate Iced Custard Filled. Chocolate with Pistacio nuts.
Last Row (L-R): Green Tea icing. Powedered Blueberry Filled.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO! All the way FRESH from Hong Kong! Did you know they have FIVE outlets in Hong Kong? And even the Philippines has Krispy Kremes! Why arent they here in Singapore! I want them NOW NOW NOW!

Raven so kindly brought them back from Hong Kong where she spent the weekend. I cabbed down in the MIDDLE of the night, or more specifically at 11-ish (close to midnight) to Changi Airport Terminal 1 where'd she landed, collected 2 boxes, each consisting of 6 donuts each and cabbed home incurring both the midnight surcharge and airport charge. Gawd, the cab fare cost almost as much as the donuts itself. But it was all worth it I tell you. HAHAHA!

I'd earlier emailed Raven about the flavours I wanted her to get and had asked for half a dozen original glazed and half a dozen assorted ones. They had pretty wacky flavours like New York Cheesecake, lemon filled ones, custard filled ones with chocolate glazing on top, so I asked her to get a bunch of those.

Upon reaching home, Mum and I ceremoniously opened the boxes and the look on our faces was as though we had just discovered treasure. In the middle of the night, with no intrusions, no interrupting phone calls or distracting telly ads, we, or rather I picked up the first Original Glazed and bit into it. At first glance, the glaze wasnt as shiny as I'd pictured it to be, but it was still sweet and fragrant. The dough of the donut was light yet substantial. It was moist and tender and went down without any problems at all. GAWD. I havent yet tried the donuts from Donut Factory, but those from Vinco didnt compare AT ALL. Like they wouldnt have made the scale if I were to rank the donuts. I remember them being not-so-fantastic; it was as though the donuts' dough wasnt compact enough. I felt like I was eating air; the donuts were light, too light in fact. They were really fragrant and nice, and the toppings added some kick to the dough but inherently the dough was still really light.

Anyway, so after one Original Glazed, I had the New York Cheesecake. It was awesome la! They really packed some sorta cheese into the donut shell and topped it off with biscuit crumbs and MORE cheese icing on top. Whoooooooo! High. Of course, you have to remember that I shared the 2 donuts with my Mum and Bro. It would have been insane wolfing down TWO KK donuts in the middle of the night especially since they're "heavy" hence making them filling. But honestly, the dough of the donut makes all the difference and after 2, we didnt stop. I downed a third KK donut. THEY WERE JUST TOO DARN GOOD! This time the Chocolate Icing Custard filled one. THAT DONUT WAS ORGASMIC. The chocolate wasnt hardened and crust-like similar to those you get off sitting on the shelves. It was smooth and wet, like someone had just painted it on. And the custard inside was another awesome delight. The custard was again smooth and it wasnt too viscous, neither was it too lumpy. It was fragrant and smelt as though it had just come out of the baker's own and was of the right consistency. Coupled with the wonderful dough of the donut, the Chocolate Icing Custard filled donut was a perfect ten.

We eventually decided to stop because we wanted to SHARE THE LOVE. Haha.. Mum, Bro and I saved the rest of the donuts for our respective partners. And also, we were incredibly full by then. THB got his donut delivered to him early morning on the train to work with a bottle of OJ. It had been a while since I last took the train during morning peak period. I felt incredibly out of place that morning what with the number of people dressed in corporate wear outnumbering those who were decked in casual gear. But anyway, anyone and everyone who got a taste of KK whilst stock last those few days agreed that it was DA BOMB. Shilin who's tried all three said KK wins hands down. HAHA! No fight la, no fight. And having them flown in sure as hell beats having to queue 3 hours. Of course, in exchange we pay a slighter steeper price for the donuts. But who ever said that good things come cheap.

Now if anyone is going to HK, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I WANT A BOX OF Krispy Kremes PLEASEEEEE! =D
I'll take a box of assorted donuts that cost 110HKD. Thankewberrymuch.

Lost and Found

Have you seen him?

Name: RnB bear
Last seen: Marina Square
Date last seen: 20/5/07

If found, please contact owner of the blog.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Lost my baby bear! Nooooooooooo! Upset. He fell off the strap on my phone.
TehS and I were talking as if we'd lost a pet or a child. HAHAHA!

The image of the bear sitting cold, dirty and crying in some deserted corner BREAKS MY HEART. GOD. It's even worse if you imagine him clueless and wondering why we abandoned him. Boooohoooo!
I hope he turns up somewhere. Or some kind soul finds him and maybe gives him a good home.

Farewell my love =(
"Muuuuuuuuuuuuuuak! I LOVE YOU!"

And I wanted to get inked the other day. Okay albeit a fake one, but still..

A tattoo of the sacred heart on my right wrist. A huge load of symbolism behind it.
Sacred heart = religion
Right wrist = wounds from the past I've partially left behind
But the darn shop was closed.

I understand now how psychological pain translates to physical pain. And I know now the reason why people get tattoos when some traumatic event happens in their life.

Tickled Pink

Pat actually gave my number to Singapore Women’s Association for Miss Singapore International 2007. Well, to be more specific, Marcus gave Pat my number who gave it to Meili.

The Project Coordinator called me early in the morning while I was snoozing and told me about the Pageant. She sent me the relevant information and here’s what the pageant is about.

The Singapore Women’s Association (SWA) started in 1954 with the aim of ensuring a better quality of life for specifically women and children. Our main activities include the Singapore Visioncare Programme for the elderly, Project Nepal for the under-privileged children in Nepal, fund raising for the underprivileged and community services in Singapore.

The Singapore Women’s Association (SWA) has been organising beauty pageants since 1975. This is one of our annual events to raise funds in aid of deserving charities or welfare organisations.

In the past, the funds raised have benefited many underprivileged children, old folks and the community.

The theme, “Beauty with a Purpose” was born. This year we are celebrating our 32nd year in organising beauty pageants.

SWA has continued to adhere to the following objectives:

1. To raise funds for a worthy cause.

2. To encourage girls endowed with beauty to make use of this gift and any talents they may have for a worthy cause.

3. To train the younger generation to be civic conscious and to instill in them a sense of civic responsibility and a desire to render service to the less fortunate.

4. To give as many young girls as possible chances to enrich their personality and knowledge; improve their appearance and poise; and especially to further improve their human relations.

5. To give the girls a chance to meet and live with people of other countries to promote goodwill, friendship, respect and tourism for Singapore.

Number 2 just got me laughing because Pat never showed any sign/inkling of acknowledging me as pretty. I once wore the teeshirt that read, “Dont look at me just because Im good-looking” that Jacky bought for my 21st birthday to class and got teased about it by Pat. He said that the shirts we wear are ironies, ie. meaning Im not good-looking la then trying to act good-looking.
Hence, when Meili told me, “Patrick passed me your number cause he thinks you’re pretty enough to join,” I burst out laughing in my heart.

Hahahahaha! Well, whaddya know. I might just take up the offer. The winner gets to go to JAPAN! Bwahahaha. But it’s all for a good cause ya?

No More Hair Woes

After 4 hours in the stylist's chair and 9 dollars poorer, this is the result.

No no.. I didnt have to pay for my hair cut. I took a cab down to the salon cause I was late. Haha.. This is the hair I'll be sporting on Tuesday for the hairshow. Not much of a difference dont you think so? It's just very much layered and a different colour. Even then, the colour is rather natural; a deep dark brown which I particularly like. I dont have to deal with stubborn thick BLACK hair. The Austrian stylist took off quite a bit. As I watched the locks fall, the weight was taken off. It's a liberating sort of feeling. Thank God that he didnt chop everything short. Im pleased with the final result and I wanna shout out to the world:

Fuck y'all.

So much anger. So much angst.
Let's geddit ON!
